Hie Sheppard, President and Founder
Mr. Sheppard is the inventor of the Electronic Condensate Return System and founder
of K&H Energy Systems, Inc. He has been working with steam systems since 1949. He
had a successful career with Weyerhaeuser Company and retired after 36 years. From
an entry-level position at the Weyerhaeuser Sulfate Pulp Mill in Everett, Washington
he advanced to corporate headquarters in Federal Way, Washington to become process
engineer, troubleshooting steam system problems throughout Weyerhaeuser Company.
After retiring from Weyerhaeuser he formed K&H Energy Systems, and consulted with
Weyerhaeuser and Boise Cascade, diagnosing and improving steam systems for both
companies. During his career, Mr. Sheppard acquired a reputation as a competent
engineer and one of the most knowledgeable steam system consultants in the pulp and
paper industry. Mr. Sheppard has in depth expertise in the manufacturing processes
and steam system operations in the forest products industry and numerous contacts in
Weyerhaeuser and Boise Cascade. Mr. Sheppard has invented and patented the Electronic
Condensate Return System and defined the vision for K&H Energy Systems. He provides
the company with both practical experience and theoretical knowledge of steam systems
that is very rare in the industry.
David Sharpe, Associate Consultant
Mr. Sharpe is an accomplished mechanical engineer with extensive business and marketing
experience. He received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of
Washington in 1972. Since then he has worked as a production manager for Clark Boat Company
and as a design engineer for Argo Blower Company. He has worked in several
engineering sales positions including Burhans Sharpe Company and Cole Industrial, where
he specialized in boilers and steam systems. Mr. Sharpe was also the Vice President of
Marketing for INNOVAC, specializing in Industrial Vacuum Systems. He has
extensive experience with industrial steam system design and project management and
currently holds a general contracting license for conducting steam system installations.
Jay Pennell, Associate Consultant
With over 28 years of design and development, field service and production experience Mr.
Pennell is a valuable member of the K&H team. As the owner of Penntronics Design and
Production Services he is the designer of the electronic side of the K&H ECRS.
Jay has also done work for Acorto, Appa Systems, Boeing, D&M Technologies, Kerber Logic,
Lucent Medical Systems Norvanco, PDLX, Turtle King, Valley Illuminators, Vulcan NW
Dennis Edmondson, Associate Consultant
Received his Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from California State University
at Los Angeles and his Masters degree from the University of Washington. Currently
working toward a double Ph.D. at the University of Washington in Material Science and
Nanotechnology. He currently works as a consulting engineer and previously was the
department head of engineering at Everett Community College.
